Brainstorming sessions.

Taking the practice out of the times we get together seems to let us follow through on all the ideas we never get to talk about.

Alley.

I found it so odd that I never knew this was there? I've been in this area so many times over the years.

The song was finished.

So instead of working on something new I went back and recorded a new ending. I did like it better after I was done though.

Throat clearing hiccup.

It's the oddest thing. So I can only slightly try to clear it to keep it from happening but then it still feels like something is in there.

Putting together another book.

At first, that seemed like a lot to me, then I was like, I thought it would have been more. You can actually check it out now in the Amazon Kindle store!  https://amzn.to/3rqZbCe

Parking guy.

I was standing right there, if he had a problem he could have just told me.

Christmas Eve video call.

Just a thought of how a group call could feel more like a conversation in a room with people.

Grill cover.

I was able to appreciate that after I was done tying it down.

The time Shepard Fairey was accused of stealing my artwork

On this episode of the podcast with photographer Thann Clark we have a discussion about posting artwork online and how easy it is to have it used or copied.  I put all of my artwork and music under a creative commons license so it's free to use and share as long as they give credit. And as we talk I share a story about a time that  Shepard Fairey was accused of stealing my artwork . Back in the '90s, one of the first album covers my band Lorenzo's Music did, was designed by the wife of a member who used to be in the band. She was a graphic designer. We were doing our first EP and she found this 1930s space-themed world's fair artwork from Chicago. Vintage 1933 Chicago World's Fair Poster It was a picture of a planet with a ring that swooped around it. And she was like, I want to design the album just like this! And I was like, that's fantastic! So she did.  Years went by, and then in the mid-2000s the band Bad Brains had Shepard Fairy do the artwork for the

Distracted drawing.

I always think I can just jump onto Blender and have the program all figured out. Then I don't.

Packing stuff.

I actually remember way too many of the songs in these commercials still.

Oh right, Christmas is this week.

It doesn't feel like it's that far into December yet.

Song: With you, An abstract deconstruction of music and of the way it's made

A new experimental music creation called "With you" by my band Lorenzo's Music .  The music is a style of abstract deconstruction musically. Think of it like Tom Waits and The Eels writing songs for each other at the same time. This summer when everything was shut down I got an idea about how I could still collaborate on creating music with my band Lorenzo's Music .  It was an idea that I guarantee no other band in the world is doing and it literally breaks down the process of the normal way people make music .  We essentially took our unorthodox method for recording and writing music and made that part of the recording and production process too! The method involves using methods that people like Facebook and Google use to work on websites and turn it into our own sort of Dropbox-like tool, but with timeline capabilities like the Back to the Future movies. This whole thing is part of an overall series of creative work I'm building that overlaps animation/video,

Project.

It's moments like these I'm glad I started the show.

Live doodle drawing stream: vintage illustrated book artwork

Live Doodle drawing this vintage illustrated book artwork  Check out the hundreds of vintage illustrated books I have here 🛍 https://ebay.to/39OUdsv I was doing a live shopping video stream the other day of my vintage illustrated book collection I have. One of the reasons I like to collect these books is for art inspiration. I like to doodle or draw my own copy of the artwork in them. So on the stream instead of just showing some of the hundreds of books I have for sale in my collection, I take a few and live sketch them for fun!

Power Ran-JAZZ.

I wonder what a genre of music called Power Ran-JAZZ would sound like?

Present shopping.

Actually, now that I think of it that probably wouldn't have been a problem.

Podcasting and live streaming.

Winter driving.

I think they've been there a while. The road seemed okay for us.

Virtual tablet.

After about a half an hour I decided it wasn't that important.

This guy tells me to get a clue. estate sale adventure - Tom Ray's Day 201204

I wanted to share this look back at an estate sale adventure we had this summer. There's a funny thing that happens at the first place we visit. Later, in an old moldy house, we meet a jokester that says something to me I don't understand at first. Plus, at the end of the video, I draw my daily autobiographical webcomic. I don't notice how little interaction I get until actually having some.

Angela Puerta, trying to help musicians in a local music scene

This is from the episode of the podcast with Musician Angela Puerta . I got the chance to meet musician Angela Puerta on my podcast and she told me about how she is also involved in a committee to help bring more diversity to the music scene and festival line-ups.  Of course, as a musician myself, I was very curious to find out more about what they were trying to do! As a person myself who's been playing music in town here since the mid-90s, I know that there have been different types of committees that have tried to do this in the past. I guess I'd like to know what your plan is? Right now playing in town here it's not lucrative. I've experienced that a lot because I started singing with a band realizing that you know like 500 dollars being split by eight, ten people you end up with very little money.  Where are you playing for five hundred dollars because even I don't know where that is? Festivals. If you play let's say Orton Park or Fete De Marquette that'

I didn't really trust doing ourselves in the first place.

Animation for a song.

I've been wanting to do another cartoon short for a while but I've been working on new music. Then I realized I could do both! My band's website is at https://www.lorenzosmusic.com

Yes Monday.

Saturday is really the only day we mix it up slightly this year. So there's that.

These cards were gonna cost how much to ship to Canada? - Tom Ray's Day 201204

I take a look at some of the things I sold online from my collection of vintage retro items and a set of movie trivia cards were sold in Canada but the shipping cost was pretty crazy. But I found another option on eBay for international shipping. I also sold a 45 record of Glenn Close singing . I take a quick listen to that of course! Plus, at the end of the video, I draw my daily autobiographical webcomic. More vintage pop-culture items available in my eBay Store https://ebay.to/2vMYStC

Video chat sync.

Usually the video is a few seconds off so we can't play at the same time. Don't know what changed this time?

Song releases.

The interesting thing was they used a soundscape that we made for in between the songs.
